About JSP
The purpose of creating the Journal of Scientific Psychology is to facilitate academic consilience and to create an academy for the consilience of ideas through written communication. The worth of the academy as a union lies in its cultivation of diversity. Variability and unity, difference and sameness, are the complements of life. In academe we are talking about the life of ideas, and perhaps the greatest of those is academic freedom. "Freedom of teaching and freedom of learning" is a statement underscoring diversity of thought. This is the Journal of Scientific Psychology's structure. Its function is consilience. The first use of the word described the artist as complement to scientist, and comes from the Latin consilere, whose literal meaning is "to leap with." In contemporary usage consilience describes the magnetic attraction of ideas from dissimilar perspectives as well as journeys from different starting points arriving at the same destination. Within the structure of the Journal of Scientific Psychology, the function of consilience will derive from the cross fertilization of ideas, opinions, and empirical evidence.
JSP publishes data-based articles (both empirical and historical), book reviews, and position papers. All manuscripts will be editorially and peer reviewed before publication.
